Denture
Work
Modern dentures restore appearance and function after tooth loss. Dentures are typically used to replace multiple missing teeth and can be partial dentures or full dentures. Used since ancient times, they are a way of replacing missing teeth to allow proper appearance and chewing function. Dentures traditionally are removable to allow proper cleaning of the mouth and of the denture. Modern materials have transformed the denture from a bulky ill-fitting device with heavy metal clasps to a slim, aesthetic prothesis with excellent retention. Options include traditional acrylic or chrome cobalt frames, new super slim plastic frames and implant retention. Dentures remain the most cost-effective way of replacing multiple missing teeth.

Dentures offer one of the most economical, and conservative, ways of replacing missing teeth, certainly for multiple missing teeth. New technology means higher precision, secure implant retention and better, more natural looking teeth, with gum support planned for better lip shape.
Suited to
Patients missing several or all teeth.
Good to know
Implant-retained options may be available.
A calm,
considered visit.
What types are available?
Full and partial – with natural suction, clasps or implant retention.
How long do they last?
Adjustments will be needed over time as the mouth changes, but a well maintained denture can last 10+ years.
Will they look natural?
Modern dentures can look very natural.
Can implants support dentures?
Yes, in suitable patients.
How are they cleaned?
Daily cleaning is recommended using sterilizing tablets, and a good denture brush.
Can dentures be stabilised with implants?
Yes – implant-retained dentures (also called overdentures) use two or more implants to anchor the denture in place, significantly improving stability and confidence, particularly for the lower jaw. This is a popular option for patients who find conventional lower dentures uncomfortable or insecure. We can discuss whether this is suitable for you at a consultation.
