Implants
Dental implants replace missing teeth. They are the closest replication we have of natural teeth that also do not impact the adjacent teeth. Made of specially treated titanium, these implants fuse to the bone in the jaws creating a strong and stable anchor (like a root) that then has a crown attached. It effectively replaces a single tooth with something very much like the lost tooth. Implants have developed greatly and are now used to support bridges, so no natural teeth must be prepped to hold the bridge, and dentures so that retention is secure and there is no movement to cause rubbing.
What to expect.
Assessment with planning to develop a treatment plan. Placement of implants, followed by healing period of between 3-6 months. Restoration of the osseo-integrated implants with crown/bridge or denture.
Made of bio-compatible textured titanium, the implant is placed in the jawbone to act as a new root and will then support a crown, bridge or denture, independently of any natural teeth. Implants help preserve bone, protect adjacent teeth and provide long-term reliable biting and chewing function. We offer a variety of implant brands to allow a range of price points.

What is a dental implant?
An artificial tooth root made of titanium that is embedded into the jawbone.
How long do implants last?
Potentially many decades with proper maintenance.
Is surgery painful?
Treatment is carried out with anaesthesia so is not painful. The healing period may be a little sore but is manageable with OTC pain medication.
Am I suitable?
An assessment is required. Most healthy people with good gum health are suitable. Periodontally compromised patients and those with bone health issues are contra-indicated.
How long does treatment take?
varies according to healing and complexity. The planning will only take a few days, the placement a couple of hours at most. The healing time when the implant incision heals and the implant is osseo-integrated with the jaw can take between 3-6 months. The final restoration will take a couple more weeks.
