What to expect.
A consultation followed by diagnosis and simulation of the predicted outcome. Once agreed with the patient, the movement phase begins and continues until the predicted or desired outcome is achieved.
A sequence of trays gently guide teeth into improved positions, while more complex cases can be managed with aesthetic fixed braces using white, or clear, brackets and wires. Proper alignment improves bite function and symmetry, reduces wear and food trapping, and makes hygiene easier, smiles more attractive. We offer a variety of brands to allow a range of price points, as well as in-house expertise of an Orthodontic specialist.

Good to know
Ortho is a long treatment (over several months) and discipline is required to maintain good oral hygiene during this time. After completion, fixed and/or removable retainers are usually required for life to maintain the achieved outcome. The aligned outcome is usually very pleasing and worth the effort and wait.

Am I too old for orthodontics?
No, the majority of orthodontic patients are adults. We have had patients in their 70s wanting to finally take action on their appearance!
How long does treatment take?
Treatment length varies according to complexity – the starting situation of the teeth, the space available in the jaw, whether bite function is to be re-aligned, etc. It ranges from about 3 months to 24 months, but the typical front 3-3 alignment that has the biggest impact on appearance usually takes between 3 – 9 months.
Does treatment hurt?
Some temporary tenderness can occur. The first aligner causes a sense of pressure that is unfamiliar for a day or so, which settles down as the teeth respond by moving. This sense reduces after a few aligners and there is no pain. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene during treatment.

Crowding, spacing and bite problems.
Do I need retainers?
Yes, retainers help maintain results. We always advise fixed retainers backed up by nighttime use of removable retainers. In adults, the teeth will drift without retention.
